ABOUT me
With my mother, Anita Bruce, a beloved former Indian Hills teacher of 33 years in Council District 4
Before venturing into politics, I honed my skills in banking with Zions Bank and practiced law as a partner and litigator at the esteemed Salt Lake City law firm Jones, Waldo, Holbrook & McDonough from 1997 to 2007.
Between 2007 and 2017, I immersed myself in local governance, working closely with cities, counties, special districts, and school districts. This experience shaped my understanding of the intricate dynamics between communities and their governing bodies. In 2020, I took a leap and founded Inclusion Strategies, my own consulting firm. Here, I channel my passion for workplace/workforce Diversity & Inclusion consulting here. Drawing on over 25 years of collaboration with Chambers of Commerce, Bar Associations, and Advocacy Groups, I strive to foster inclusive environments.
My commitment extends beyond consulting. I served on the Board of the National Association of Latino Elected & Appointed Officials (NALEO) and contributed to the Utah Hospital Association (UHA) and the Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE) until 2022.
I earned my stripes at the University of Utah, graduating with a BS in '93, and later pursued a JD at the University of Michigan Law School, graduating in '96.
The White House recognized my dedication, appointing me to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars during President Obama's second administration. In August 2020, I was elected to represent the Utah Democratic National Committee (DNC) as Committeeman, embarking on a four-year term to contribute to the party's vision and values.
I'm passionate about making a positive impact, fostering inclusion, and building bridges between communities. Join me on this journey, and let's work together to create a more connected and inclusive world.
